Isaiah Dreads is one of the UK’s brightest talents, constantly proving his doubters wrong with a variety of videos showcasing his versatility. He is able to spit on a variety of instrumentals, he creates his own as well as using iconic ones such as the instrumental used for the song Frome time by Drake. His work rate is exceptional constantly creating new content such as the variety of twitter videos, mixtapes such as “Nothing but a mixtape” and “Lights turn green” as well as a variety of songs and freestyles on iconic platforms within the music scene such as Link up TV, SBTV and Radio 1 XTRA.
At the age of 16 he was able to showcase his exceptional amount of talent on Radio 1 XTRA by performing a “#GimmieGrime” freestyle which was hosted by DJ Cameo. This video has reached 51,246 views this is astounding for such a young artist, as there is a variety of artists double his age trying to break into the scene now struggling to amass 10,000 views.
He has being compared to a variety of iconic artists within the scene due to his exceptional talent at such a young age such as Dizzie Rascal and Skepta. I guarantee he will succeed within music due to the fact he doesn’t limit himself to one specific genre, he is able to spit on both Rap and Grime instrumentals this is integral to any artists success as artists need to showcase the full extent of their talent otherwise they may be overlooked resulting in their success being limited due to the lack of recognition they receive.
His Fire in the Booth is a perfect example of his versatility, he spits on an instrumentals from both the grime and rap genre. During the first instrumental he was able to create a sense of hype by the pace he was able to spit whilst using relatable lyrics such as “real talk since young I was a boy in da corner” this lyric is a play on words mentioning one of Grimes most iconic artists Dizzie Rascal. This encaptivates an audience as they are able to relate to his lyrics, which allows his audience to establish a personal connection with him. Too Blunt an American YouTuber who reviews British music stated that “out of all the Fire in the booth’s that I’ve heard especially from the younger people this one is like one of the most positive and less violent.” This highlights factor that will allow him to succeed, which is the fact he doesn’t follow the trend that rapping/spitting about violence and criminal activity sells. He raps and spits about his personal life, which maintains his image as a relatable character allowing a younger audience to relate to his content thus creating a wider fan base; this will only help in his quest to succeed as more people will be able to enjoy his content.
Isaiah is the first artist to sign for the record label 101 Music which is run by an iconic producer within the scene Z Dot, this is an exceptional accomplishment as this will allow Isaiah’s to reach a wider range of people which means more people will be able to admire his immense talent. He is also joining Bugzy Malone on tour starting in November; this is extremely beneficial for him due to the vast following Bugzy Malone has created for himself over the past few years this will allow Isaiah to learn from an artist highly rated within the scene. Everything Isaiah is doing currently is hugely beneficial for his already prolific career. He has performed at Reading and Glastonbury which is an accomplishment many prolific artists within the scene are yet to accomplish this highlights his ridiculous amount of talent and the fact he is going to reach ridiculous heights within the scene. I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw him in the charts within the next few years, you will all remember his name within a year I’m predicting huge things in the near future. His next EP Lone Wolf will be a game changer which will be released on the 25.11.16 remember the date.
