Berna is an up and coming MC from London, making huge waves within the scene with his BlackBox Series 9 episode 28 or his Link Up TV freestyle, people instantly began to understand his immense talent. His career may have only just begun, but I am predicting huge success within the next few months.
As well as creating waves within the UK an American YouTuber by the name of TooBlunt reviewed his BlackBox and Link Up freestyles, commenting on his versatility of flows and his high level of lyricism. This is allowing Berna to reach a larger audience so more people can appreciate his talent, people may finally realise what a credit he is to the continuously growing Grime and Rap scene. Personally when I realised he was so young I was in shock, his talent is far superior to artists twice his age this should only emphasise his level of talent. His music should increase the excitement and anticipation associated with the Grime scene, as he is part of the new wave of exceptional artists breaking into the very talented scene.
Berna recently released his Mad About Bars video on MixatpeMadness a series hosted by Kenny Allstar, an iconic name within the scene he has featured on Potter Payper records as well as interviewing him on his show for Radar Radio. Berna’s Mad about Bars has caused an exuberant amount of people to recognise his talent, as you are able to see by the amount of positive messages he is receiving on his twitter account, people are quoting iconic bars from the video as well as commenting on how talented he is. People he hasn’t even met are congratulating him on accomplishing so much in such a short space of time, this is significant as these people have no personal relationship with him yet still congratulate him on his progress.
People may think that videos aren’t an exceptional accomplishment, however there is a ridiculously large amount of artists trying to break into the music scene that are unable to have one video on an iconic music platform such as Link Up TV or GRM Daily. Whereas Berna has several videos that have all being posted by a variety of music platforms in the last few months, this highlights his exceptional work rate proving to doubters and fans he is willing to put in the work to achieve the success he deserves.
Having a productive work rate is hugely important within music as there are always new artists creating a buzz within the scene, however maintaining that buzz is the real challenge and Berna doesn’t seem fazed by this which already puts him in good stead against a variety of more renowned artists. I’m hoping for a project as this will allow Berna to showcase his versatility, as he will be able to experiment with his music expanding his range thus appealing to a wider audience. This will allow his fan base to grow significantly which hopefully will result in a headline show.
I believe 2017 will be the year People finally begin to understand the talent he has, I’m predicting various awards and even more exceptional music. This will only be the beginning for Berna, I believe he can emulate the success of artists such as Stormzy, Krept and Konan and Skepta to name a few.
