I have decided to create a project showcasing the talent within Leeds, I created an overview summarising some of the most iconic artists within Leeds. However I have decided to delve deeper giving you an insight into each individual artist that I believe will make it within the scene. The first artist I want you all to take in is Graft.
Graft is one of the most iconic artists to come out of Leeds within recent history, accumulating tens of thousands of views at the mere age of 17. The fact he is able to receive such a vast amount of views should excite any music fan, his potential is endless each video I watch anchors this as you are able to witness the development of his musical ability.
Already accomplishing so much in such a short period of time, having two videos with Link Up TV, a Fire In The Streets and a variety of videos on First Media TV, Leeds most iconic YouTube music platform. Within two months he received 46,727 views on his video on Link Up TV for his track Man Like, this is astonishing as countless artists who have been within the scene for years fail to accumulate this amount of views in years never mind in months.
As well as a successful music career ahead of him he is also a professional footballer currently plying his trade at Rotherham United as a commanding centre back, after being purchased by them from Leeds United where he rose through the academy ranks.
Graft also has his own personal Soundcloud which has achieved an astonishing amount of views with one track posted on his own channel which is called Friday Night which received 4,194 views and 177 likes. If you total up all of the views he has accumulated on Soundcloud he has achieved 7680 views, this is astounding as his career has only just begun and he is able to reach thousands of listeners with his content. This allows him to showcase his own message, which he does responsibly unlike a vast amount of artists. He doesn’t highlight the lifestyle many live on road he criticises it talking about his aspirations to live a comfortable life proving for his mum. This sets an excellent example to his younger listeners motivating them to succeed.
Personally I’m hoping that Graft releases an album or mixtape soon, he is able to create both catchy up beat songs such as Man Like, as well as creating tracks that you have to listen to and take in every lyric to understand the struggle and strife he has gone through such as Chapters. A project that combines both of these different types of songs will be an instant success as he will appeal to a mass audience thus resulting in the immense success he deserves.
