2016 has been a huge year for the scene and I have no doubt 2017 is going to be even better, I have decided to shortlist five artists I believe will have a career changing 2017. I can’t wait for 2017 to witness these artists develop and receive the recognition they deserve, and those artists/groups are Berna, Hardy Caprio, Isaiah Dreads, Culprit and Belly Squad.

Berna has recently become one of the most highly rated break through artists within the scene, his Blackbox freestyle has accumulated 438,736 views in 5 months which is outstanding especially when you take into account the fact he’s eighteen years old. As well as his hugely successful Blackbox freestyle videos such as Link Up TV freestyle and his hardest out freestyle received a great response, I believe 2017 is going to be the year people are finally able to take in how talented this artist is. Personally I’m hoping for an EP or even an album as this would allow Berna to accumulate a variety of different types of content showcasing his versatility, which would obviously allow him to develop and grow his hugely supportive fan base.

Hardy Caprio is the next artist I believe will enjoy a fruitful 2017, after supporting Dave at his latest headline show I believe Hardy will be having a show in the near future which will undoubtedly sell out. His fan base is exceptionally loyal he constantly receives support all over social media, I witness endless retweets of people supporting his music and wishing him luck on his journey. This is exactly the type of fan base an artist needs to succeed, if he ever doubted himself the support from the thousands of loyal fans would surely prove to himself how talented he really is. This year he finally finishes his degree in accountancy so he will be able to focus solely on music which only anchors the fact he is bound to succeed as look at what he’s accomplished whilst having to cope with the stress of a degree and the huge demand for new content.

Isaiah Dreads has had a fantastic 2016 signing to 101 records supporting Bugzy Malone and releasing his latest EP Lone Wolf which reached number 11 in the hip hop/ rap charts and number 1 in the pre order charts. Isaiah has just released the date for his first headline show on the 15th March 2017 at Camden assembly hall in London, this is only the start I’m predicting an array of shows and appearances at iconic events such as Wireless, Red Bull culture clash and many more. So my advice to anyone reading this is remember the name Isaiah Dreads and capitalise on any opportunity that arises which allows you to witness the incredible artist perform.

At 17 years old Culprit has provided his fans with an array of content on various media platforms such as SBTV, GRM Daily and his own personal YouTube channel. His latest track Life in the Gutter is a perfect example of how talented he really is, combining hard hitting lyrics with his clear vocals and exceptional instrumental choice resulted in a top quality track that accumulated 12,708 views in three weeks on SBTV. In 2017 all I want is for Culprit to supply us all with more top quality content so in believe with more content success will be imminent for this Young talented rapper. His lyrical wordplay is far superior to his age and I believe as he grows and develops his craft he can only get better and the Grime and Rap scene will only prosper from this.

Belly squad have become one of the most iconic groups of 2016 with tracks such as Pick up the Phone remix featuring Abra Cadabra and Banana catapulting them in to the limelight. The combination of afro beats and rap is phenomenal creating their own unique style that forces you to dance along. I can’t wait for this iconic trio to release a project because I guarantee it will make waves within the scene, they are a force to be reckoned with and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them receiving a variety of different awards such as a Rated award, MOBO and or a BET award.

My advice to you all is to remember each name I have mentioned and witness the enigmatic impact they all make within the scene, 2017 is going to be a year no one will want to end because the amount of talent we're going to witness.
