I can honestly say I have never listened to something as beautiful as Bonkaz latest project quality control 2.0. Bonkaz is one of the most prolific artists within the scene, dropping tracks such as “Like That” “we Run the Block” and “Mad Ting FT Mez.” So when I heard that Quality Control 2.0 a follow up of one of Bonkaz most prolific projects in Quality Control was going to be released I was unbelievably excited. However I never expected this he has easily become one of my all-time favorite artists, he is able to combine real life hard hitting topics with intricate wordplay and one of the smoothest flows I have ever listened to.
We all witnessed the immense support Stormzy received and I hoped Bonkaz would receive the same treatment and that’s exactly what happened. My social media feeds are filled with images, videos and various other forms of praise for Bonkaz; it’s amazing to witness the power of people when they all come together to support true talent.
Bonkaz is one of the few artists who are able to create a relationship between their music and their fans which is admirable, as I believe the key reason for that is his passion for music it resonates with each and every bar he spits. I am 100% emotionally invested in his music and so will you when you actually take in the lyrics of this project. He opens up about depression, autism and heartbreak all of which are topics we will all have had some form of experience dealing with so rather than highlighting various generic topics such as the “Road Life” or other “Crud” topics, he decided to open up about topics that challenge society allowing people to open up about their own problems. Which I have to applaud Bonkaz for we need more people like Stormzy and Bonkaz who are willing to converse about the topics society want to overlook as people suffer with these problems every day yet people feel as if they are unable to speak out.
Now before people get on my back I know Bonkaz made various references relating to the “Road” lifestyle however he didn’t glorify such activities he referred to it as a part of his life that he went through and never wants to return to. He is an exceptional role model for the youth of today rather than promoting that lifestyle, he tries to showcase the fact there is a better life for us all and all we have to do is put in the time to secure it. One of the countless lyrics that anchor Bonkaz positive mentality in life is “I’m Autistic you pay attention you can’t miss it I swap the U for an R now I’m artistic.” Even though he suffers with a form of disability he didn’t let that stop him, he proved to himself and everyone else you and only you define who you are. So I hope you all take that into account and follow your dreams because you’re the only person who can prohibit your own success.
