Floor Sixx - Iconic

Mangle nightclub E8 3FN this iconic address will always have a place in my heart, being able to witness the whole Floor sixx team combine to create an industry changing event. The event is part of the promotional campaign used to fund an exceptional cause in the Floor Sixx music academy which is a mentoring scheme in association with red bull music where there will be ten different workshops which will run throughout August.

Now I haven’t really explained why Floor Sixx changed the industry have I? Don’t worry all shall be explained now. Imagine 20/30 of your all-time favorite artists within one room (your smiling at the thought of it right?) then add hundreds of people all with the same level of love and passion for the music that you possess, it is already sounding like an amazing event isn’t it. So imagine all of this occurring within London, the 24 hour city the music capital of England. So now my sensible readers will be assessing the cost of this journey and assessing how viable an investment it would be. Stop you don’t need to, imagine being invited to attend this event for free, so not only am I able to witness an industry changing event I was able to do so for free. Yes I know my life is pretty good at the moment, this is the best bit I was invited to this event for one reason I support and enjoy the Grime scene. So due to the fact I love this specific music genre I am invited to an event to witness my idols perform. I really did hit the jackpot.

I assume you all want specific details right? Artists, DJ’s, songs played so here we go. Grim sickers before his exceptional track Kane as well as spitting the Ghetts remixed verse too, I alongside hundreds of other people have never skanked so hard, the joy each and every one of us felt was uncontrollable the music took control and our bodies followed suit. Elf kid shut down the whole rave with golden boy I’m not even from Lewisham but each time that hook was spat I felt a sense of patriotism associated with that specific borough of London. Giggs wasn’t even at the event but Lock Doh, Talkin Da Hardest and Whippin Excursion were crazy I partook in my first ever skeppy excursion alongside the hundreds of other guests all “whippin” and “Skrrin” to the tracks.

See that is a fraction of the madness that went off at this event believes me I could talk about P Montana and his phenomenal set dropping track after track creating the craziest of vibes. He was definitely a crowd favourite. I could talk about the array of artists who were chilling in the crowd forcing a vast amount of guests including myself to fan boy every few minutes.

However Sian herself has to be mentioned she is a pioneer for the Grime scene her weekly 1Xtra shows on Wednesday provide me with the new content I need to expand my own articles and knowledge of genre. This woman doesn’t even know me but her radio shows play a significant role within the progression of my own career so thank you. Now I need to talk about her promotional skills, bomber jackets, and custom shoutouts on customised USB bracelets. Are you crazy Sian and the whole of the Floor Sixx team went crazy, they made an event that will be forever remembered and respected within the Grime scene. You took the term Shoobs and created a whole new level, you are all an inspiration and I hope to be able to contribute to our scene the way you all have at some point in my own career.

But the best thing about grime is the fact the passion of the genre brings people together, at the event I met two lads called Ethan and Rob. We found a common interest in the genre and the conversation didn’t stop from then, because the passion each of us had for the genre resonated with one another. Rob features in Grim Sickers video and when he told me I have to admit I was quite jealous now come on you can’t blame me. Without our shared love for the music we would have never met so even though Grime is just another genre of music it is so much more than that, it unifies people shared interests outweigh individual differences.
